Privacy Policy

This website, https://chrisogunbanjo.com (the “Site”) is owned and operated by Chris Ogunbanjo LP, a limited liability partnership registered under the Lagos State Partnership Law with registered number LPN 059 (the “Firm”). The Firm is a law firm authorized and regulated by the Legal Practitioners Act, Cap L11, LFN 2004. 

A.   Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

(a) “User” means any individual accessing or using the Site, or a company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Site, as applicable.

C.   Purpose

The purpose of this privacy policy (the “Policy”) is to inform Users of the following: 
a.     The Personal Data we may collect; 
b.    Use of collected Personal Data; 
c.     Who has access to the Personal Date collected; 
d.    The rights of Users; and 

e.     The Site’s cookie policy. 

This Policy applies in addition to the terms and conditions of the Site.

By using the Site, Users agree that they consent to the conditions set out in this Policy. 

E.    Personal Data the Firm Collects

The Firm only collects data that helps it achieve the purpose set out in this Policy. The Firm will not collect any additional data without prior notification of the User.

The Firm may also collect the following data on request from the User when the User wants to perform certain functions on the Site:

This data may be collected when the User fills a form on the Site after accepting our Privacy Policy.

F.    How the Firm Uses the Data Collected

The data collected on the Site will only be used for the purposes specified in this Policy or indicated on the relevant pages of the Site. The Firm will not use a User’s data beyond what is disclosed in this Policy, as well as permissible by the law. All data collected on the Site is used for the following purposes: 
i.      Client engagement and information on our thought leadership 
ii.    Potential offerings on employment, latest legal updates and more 

iii.  Other legally permissible purposes.

G.   Who the Firm Shares the Data Collected With

Employees
The Firm may disclose User data to any member of the Firm who reasonably needs access to achieve the purpose of this Policy. 

Third Parties 

Our website contains links to other sites which are controlled by third parties.  You should review these other sites’ privacy policies.  We do not accept any responsibility for their use of your personal information.

Other Disclosures
The Firm will not share User data with other third parties, except in the following cases:
a.   Where the law requires it
b.   Where it is required in a legal proceeding before a competent court

Please note that if a User follows any hyperlinks from the Site to a third-party website, the Firm shall not be responsible for the protection of the privacy of such User and the Firm shall also have no control over the privacy policies and practices of such third-party website. 

H.   How the Firm Protects User Data

(a) In order to protect the privacy of the User, the Firm uses the strongest available browser encryption and stores all collected date on servers in secure facilities. All collected data is only accessible to the Firm’s employees and third parties mentioned in Clause G of this Policy. The Firm’s employees and the said third parties are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and a breach of the agreements shall result in the termination of the employment/service contracts of the employees and third parties respectively. 

 (b) Kindly note that while the Firm takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that User data is adequately protected, the Firm shall not be liable for any breach of this Policy beyond what is reasonably provided for in this Policy.

I.     Rights of a User

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, 2019 (the “NDPR”), the User has the following rights:

a.   Right to be provided with any information relating to processing to the data collected from a User in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form, using clear and plain language and at no monetary cost. 

b.   Right to rectification of all User data collected via the Site.

c.   Right to erasure of all User data collected via the Site.

 d.   Right to restrict processing of all User data collected via the Site.

 e.   Right to data portability

Please note that the rights of a User as stated in this clause shall be in conformity with constitutionally guaranteed principles of law for the general protection and enforcement of fundamental rights.

J.     Children

The minimum age to use the Site is 18 years of age. The Firm does not knowingly collect or use data from persons under the age of 18 years of age. If it is learnt that the Firm has collected data from a person under 18 years of age, such data will be deleted as soon as practicable.

To access, modify, delete, challenge or exercise any of the rights provided in the NDPR, a User may contact our Data Protection Officer via the information below: 
 

L.    Cookie Policy

(a) A cookie is a small file, stored on a User’s hard drive by a website. Its purpose is to collect data relating to the User’s browsing habits. A User can choose to be notified each time a cookie us transmitted. A User may also choose to disable cookies entirely on their internet browser, however, this may reduce the quality of said User’s experience. 
 
(b) We use the following cookies on this Site:

 1. Functional Cookies: Functional cookies are used to remember the selections a User makes on the Site so that such User’s selections are saved for the next visits.  

2. Analytical Cookies: Analytical cookies allow the Firm to improve the design and functionality of the Site by collecting data on how a User accesses the Site, for example, data on the content accessed by the User and how long a User stays on the Site.

 3. Targeting Cookies: Targeting cookies collect data on how a User makes use of the Site and such User’s preferences. Targeting cookies allows the Firm to personalise the information a User sees on the Site. 

4. Third-Party Cookies: Third-party cookies are created by a website other than our Site. The Firm may use third-party cookies to monitor User preferences to tailor advertisements around their interests.

M.  Amendments

This Policy may be amended from time to time to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and to reflect any changes the Firm’s data collection process. The Effective Date will be updated at any time this Policy is amended. Users are encouraged to periodically review the Policy to ensure that they are aware of any amendments to the Policy. The Firm may notify Users by email of any changes to the Policy.

This Policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
