Chief Christopher Oladipo Ogunbanjo OFR,CON founded Messrs Chris Ogunbanjo & Co. in 1960. Our Chief Ogunbanjo started Legal Practice in 1950 as a Partner in a law firm then known as Samuel, Chris & Michael (made up of the late Chief Samuel Akintola, former Premier of Western Nigeria, Chief Christopher Ogunbanjo and late Justice Michael Odesanya) whose offices were situated at Tinubu Square in the heart of Lagos.

Chris Ogunbanjo & Co was formed after the dissolution of the partnership in 1960, primarily as a Commercial law firm and is regarded as the pioneer indigenous solicitors’ practice in Nigeria. The Firm has been a breeding ground for many successful luminaries in Nigerian legal practice.

Senator Olatokunbo Ogunbanjo acted as the Firm’s Managing Partner from 1986 to 1992 when he contested and was subsequently elected to the Senate of the Nigerian National Assembly to represent Ogun East Senatorial district.

Mr Abimbola Ogunbanjo, who started his professional career as a Banker with Chase Merchant Bank, Nigeria, currently serves as the Firm’s Managing Partner. Mr Ogunbanjo is a consummate, result-oriented solicitor and board room executive with vast knowledge of and experience in the areas of Capital Markets, Admiralty Law and Corporate Finance.

He has a brilliant understanding of legal issues in his preferred areas of practice and has a reputation of being reliable, highly principled lawyer who works assiduously to achieve set goals at all times.

Amongst his several boardroom roles, he currently serves as the First Vice-President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and Legal Adviser of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping.

The firm’s practice includes Banking, Capital Markets, Project and Asset Finance, Intellectual Property, Construction, Dispute Resolution, Insurance, Aviation, Admiralty, Commercial Litigation and Arbitration.
